BEIJING, Dec. 28 -- A US woman who reported her 2-year-old autistic nephew was abducted in her stolen car has been arrested and charged with murder for failing to get him medical treatment.

Tonya Sloan and her boyfriend Anthony Milam, both 27 and of Salt Rock in southern Cabell County, West Virginia, were arrested Monday night, hours after Sloan reported that her car had been stolen from the parking lot of a convenience store in Winfield with the boy in the back seat.

Police found the empty automobile about 15 minutes later in a nearby parking lot, but the little boy was gone.

According to a criminal complaint, Sloan and Milam later told state police troopers that the child had died on Dec. 15 after having a seizure or other medical emergency at Sloan's house. The couple allegedly did not attempt to provide medical aid.

Investigators believe the boy's body was disposed of in the Ohio River.

Sloan had been caring for her nephew for the past several weeks.
